One thing is for sure: many options are still open in Champions League group E. All four sides in the group stand a chance of qualifying with two games left. Some people may need a calculator, but PSV have bright prospects. Just like in the previous season, PSV can progress to the Champions league knock out stage on matchday 5. They performed that feat one year ago, when they took on Arsenal on matchday 5 and tonight they may make sure of a place in the knock-out phase again, when they meet Schalke 04 in Gelsenkirchen. But no decisions have been brought about in group E yet. If PSV enjoy victory tonight, they will have sealed their place in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions. But a draw would also be a great result, as PSV coach Guus Hiddink already announced at the pre-match press conference. If the two teams draw tonight, it would mean that PSV have a better record against AC Milan (a win and a draw) as well as against Schalke 04 (a win and a draw). And that could prove to be very valuable. Fenerbahçe and AC MilanThe Germans will be busy calculating, as the result of the Fenerbahçe-AC Milan tie is of great importance to the group E standings. PSV would love the Italians to beat the Turkish ruling champions and settle for a draw in Gelsenkirchen themselves, as they would then ensure a place in the knock-out phase of the prestigious tournament. As AC Milan and Schalke cannot possibly earn three points each in their final group stage game, PSV would be sure of a second place in the rankings at least. Schalke would love to win their own game tonight and they hope for a draw in the Fenerbahçe-AC Milan tie. The German press representatives refer to 'two finals', tonight and in San Siro in 6 December. Anyway: "There is still everything to play for", to quote Guus Hiddink and we will just have to wait and see if some bottles of champagne will be opened tonight.
