Apart from an own goal by Alex, PSV have still not conceded a goal in the Eindhoven Philips Stadium so far this season yet. Ruling Dutch champions PSV maintained their leading position on top of the Dutch table by a convincing 3-0 win over NAC Breda (3-0) on Saturday night and as Feyenoord and RBC Roosendaal shared honours, the Eindhoven outfit have extended their lead by two points. Vennegoor of HesselinkPSV started a strenuous week with fixtures against NAC Breda, Fenerbahçe SK and Feyenoord in style. PSV coach Guus Hiddink saw his team dominate the game entirely and the opening goal seemed to be only a matter of time. PSV took initiatives and NAC had precious little to offer in the Eindhoven Philips Stadium. PSV were by far the better team and it was again Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink who opened the deadlock; the tall striker scored the crucial opening goal ten minutes into the second half, when star of the night Farfán had picked him out. The Peruvian made virtually sure of victory twelve minutes from time by firing the ball into the roof of the net. PSV have now created a three-point gap with Feyenoord, who drew 2-2 with RBC Roosendaal.Simons penaltyPSV earned a host of chances. Captain Cocu’s header from a corner in the first minute missed the goal by some inches. Arouna Koné also threatened, but NAC Breda keeper Van Zwam denied him. He pulled off another save on 14 minutes, when PSV had earned a penalty when Farfán was fouled by Van Gessel. Timmy Simons’ effort from the spot kick was too weak to surprise Van Zwam. Koné and Farfán had their moments and created some danger up front, but they could not capitalize on their chances yet. It was a rather one-sided game. NAC were unable to create any danger; their forwards were static and 33 minutes were on the clock, when Pierre van Hooijdonk came close to PSV keeper Gomes. Jefferson FarfánIt was to be expected that PSV would try and wrap up the game soon after the break. Farfán started a lethal counter attack and his perfect cross found Vennegoor of Hesselink who blasted home. NAC were close to restoring parity on 60 minutes, though, when Gomes failed to clear and actually mishit the ball. The Brazilian immediately made amends by pulling off a great save form the resulting shot. And then PSV quickly settled things on the pitch. Farfán rounded his marker and Van Zwam can hardly have seen his piledriver at the far post; 2-0. Farfan has taken his season’s tally to nine goals. NAC substitute Sikora hit the post, but PSV added one more goal. Robert, who had been brought on for Vennegoor, intercepted a pass and cleverly set up Koné. The Ivory Coast striker had plenty of time to select his favourite corner of the goal; 3-0.All in all, PSV cruised to a comfortable win and can now focus on the massive Champions League clash against Fenerbahçe on Tuesday night.
