PSV have earned ten points from their six Champions League group stage games and the team maintained an unbeaten run at home. "We have taken our chances", announced Hiddink. Impressive statisticsPSV did not concede a single goal in three home games and found the net four times. PSV grabbed one point on their travels (in Milan) and were beaten emphatically on two occasions, but all in all it was enough to progress to the next phase for the second year running.PSV are on the right track at the beginning of December: they are on top of the Dutch Eredivisie and have made sure of a spot in the Champions League knock out stages. They won all of their games at home, both on the domestic and European league. It is remarkable that PSV progress to the next round with a negative goal difference of minus two."Tactical discipline" Guus Hiddink lavished praises on his squad during the post-match press conference. ” I feel the team have pulled off an excellent result for the second consecutive time. We have put on an efficient performance, bearing in mind this was a European game. Fenerbahçe had more possession, but they did not create any clear-cut chances. I want to compliment my team, after we had to reshape it at the start of the campaign. We have taken our chances and we can take the credit for that. We were well organized, from a tactical point of view. It’s magic to play games like this one.” Hiddink added that this result is great promotion for Dutch football in general and he announced he was looking forward to making appearances in the next phase, in February and March. "It’s a wonderful stage. And it is tempting to compare our limited budget with the budgets of the other fifteen clubs!. Now that Koné and Culina are eligible, the squad will be even more competitive. The lads are looking forward to making appearances in the knock out games and I think it is wonderful to be there.” Christoph Daum"PSV have played controlled football and their defence was outstanding”, explained Christoph Daum, the German coach of Fenerbahçe. "I can only say that we have given everything, but we have not succeeded in winning this crucial game. We have not been able to convert our opportunities into goals. I congratulate my colleague Guus Hiddink for having reached the next round in the Champions League. He has been forced to build a new team and yet he has guided them to another great success, for which he deserves credit,” felt Daum.
