Coaches of Dutch sports organizations have named Guus Hiddink Coach of the Year for the second time in a four-year spell. Hiddink was the first coach to receive the NOC*NSF Coach Award in 2002. NOC*NSF stands for Netherlands Olympic Committee * Netherlands Sport Confederation.Apart from PSV head coach Guus Hiddink, Robert Eenhoorn, coach of the national baseball team and Remi Lens, coach of the gymnastics team of Holland, were also nominated.Prior to the PSV-Roda JC fixture, there was a meeting in the PSV press room, where Charles van Commeneé, the NOC*NSF Technical Manager, handed the Award to Hiddink. Erica Terpstra, the NOC*NSF Chairman, was also present. "2005 was a special sports year and there were quite a few successful coaches. But it was not hard at all to select the best coach", started Van Commeneé his speech. "Dutch champions, Dutch Cup winners and Champions League semi finalists; Hiddink has certainly made his mark. And that’s what distinguishes a top coach from a successful coach. He has guided two teams to success inimitably and he has shown his professional skills. Guus Hiddink is a perfect example of a top sports coach and an asset to all top sports coaches in the Netherlands." Hiddink said he was "very proud indeed of this appreciation shown by quality coaches. I am so proud and I would like to say thank you very much, NOC*NSF." NOC*NSF also distributed a press release, in which they stressed the reasons why Hiddink had won this prestigious award. "Following the successful achievements of the South Korean team at the World Cup 2002, Guus Hiddink made a major contribution in 2005 as well to the international creation of the image of the special skills of the Dutch top coaches. So NOC*NSF are delighted to present this coach, who serves as an example at home as well as abroad, the Award for the second time in his career."
