PSV head coach Guus Hiddink announced at the post-match press conference that he was delighted with the 4-1 win over sc Heerenveen. His colleague Gertjan Verbeek agreed that the win was fully deserved, but he also thought his side was too timid before the break. "Attempt to grievous bodily harm!"Verbeek claimed that Heerenveen had a bright start, in spite of the many changes he had to make to the starting line-up, as Petter Hansson and Danijel Pranjic were not available. "PSV threatened at times, but we were hardly ever in problems. We showed too much respect and we were restless, once we enjoyed possession. Yet we earned some chances and Arnold Bruggink in particular had a good opportunity. But when they scored the opener and soon afterwards doubled their advantage, my heart missed a beat. I had expected PSV to lean back in the second period, also in view of next Wednesday’s Champions League clash. We decided to play man-to-man; that’s why Seip was taken off during half time. When we reduced the deficit, I felt we were back in the game. But then Alex made an attempt to grievous bodily harm! The free kick he took was so powerful that a player could very well have sustained brain damage if he had been hit by that shot. So I don’t blame anybody. I think the fourth goal was scored, while Koné was off side, but obviously PSV clearly deserved to win here tonight.”"Good win"Guus Hiddink thought PSV started well and could have scored two goals within the first twenty minutes. “You know that you may get into trouble, if you don’t take your chances. Yet we were 2-0 on top, which was great. After the break they made a few changes; Bosvelt moved forward, so that they started to dominate. We also made a few tactical changes. We were sloppy when we conceded a goal, which should not have happened. And then Alex scored from an amazing free kick. PSV put up pressure in the first half, just like we did in Alkmaar last week, away against AZ. This is a fine win at this stage of the campaign.
