The sky was overcast in Lyon today and the weather was fairly dull, until the sun broke through and the historic city centre was drying. The heart of townThe peninsula, where the rivers Rhône and Saône flow together is fully alive, with wide streets, stylish shops, many restaurants and pubs. There were not yet many visitors in the supporters’ shop in the heart of town on this match day, but it quite clear that L’OL are popular in Lyon. Olympique Lyonnais is far more than a football club. It is a brand. Mobile services, travels, an internet shop, cartoons, a café-restaurant, telephone services, a large shop and a great range of merchandise, a taxi firm; the letters 'OL' are everywhere.Historic centreAnyone who can afford to look around in the centre of Lyon, will agree that it is a most wonderful town, with a historic centre, the largest traffic free square of Europe and two rivers. Preserved Renaissance architecture abounds, such as the St. Jean Cathedral and the Notre-Dame de Fourvière Basilica, with a lovely view of the city, where some 1, 3 million people live.Ahead of tonight’s game, you will find below some pictures that describe the atmosphere of the second city of France, the town of the brand 'OL'.
