PSV will pay a visit to Hallescher FC at the end of the month and play a memorial game on Friday 28 April next. PSV head coach Guus Hiddink has taken the initiative to play this game, as the European Cup game, scheduled 1971, was not kicked off.Nearly 35 years ago Wolfgang Hoffmann, player of Chemie Halle, as the club was called in those days, was killed when a fire started in the hotel Tsilveren Seepaerd. The team were in Eindhoven for the European Cup III first round return leg, but the game was cancelled, as Chemie withdrew from the tournament. Hiddink would love to make a gesture and comply with the request to play a memorial game, made by Hallerscher FC last year. Halle are no longer a top flight team, but play in one of the regional leagues these days. Hiddink was one of the PSV players in 1971, when the match was cancelled. “I promised them last year we would come, if we could find a convenient date. We are happy we can comply with the request. We will travel to Halle on Friday 28 April and return to Eindhoven the next day.”Although the final domestic league fixtures are scheduled for next weekend, PSV will continue to train after this weekend as well. The players will be given two days off, though. The squad will also make a trip to South Europe. “We haven’t fixed a definitive date yet, but we will probably be away in the weekend of 21 April.”The PSV first team squad will train on Thursday. The players have no obligations on Friday. They will meet again for training on Saturday and will be on the road to Breda on Sunday for the last league game of the season, against NAC Breda. The Dutch Cup final is scheduled for 7 May next.
