Only prestige was at stake for PSV and Feyenoord and both sides were content with the 1-1 draw. Romeo Castelen opened the scoring for the visitors and Phillip Cocu restored parity. After the game the crowd said a fond farewell to the PSV technical staff. Before the game was kicked off, the players of the Rotterdam congratulated their PSV colleagues with their title and made a nice gesture by presenting them bunches of flowers.Three PSV first team regulars were absent: Jefferson Farfán was rested, Ismail Aissati was down with flu and Timmy Simons started on the bench. Mika Väyrynen filled in for the latter in midfield. Dirk Kuyt striker, who started a stunning 179 Eredivisie games since March 2001, was ruled out. Former PSV goalkeeper Patrick Lodewijks, who has recovered from an injury, started on the bench, as Feyenoord coach Erwin Koeman made Ekramy his first choice. PSV created the better chances. Arouna Koné fired the ball over the goal on nine minutes and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink got a golden opportunity to open the scoring on fifteen minutes, but he completely misjudged a perfect Beasley cross. Jason Culina was also in a shooting position, but the Australian shot across the goal. Feyenoord taught PSV a lesson in efficiency soon after the break. PSV lost possession and pacy Feyenoord winger Castelen was put clear and Gomes did not stand a chance when he fired home; 0-1. Hiddink took some measures. Beasley was taken off and Beerens, who was brought on, was handed his debut in the Philips Stadium. Afellay left the bench to take over from Väyrynen. Feyenoord forward Kalou went off, after he had sustained an injury and super sub Van Hooijdonk entered the pitch. PSV scored the equalizer twenty minutes from final time. Beerens produced a fine cross, which Alex headed on target. Feyenoord stopper Ekramy saved well, but Cocu simply headed home the rebound. The pace of the game was not that high and Feyenoord almost took the lead again. Greene unleashed a fierce shot that rattled the bar. No more chances were created, so that the 34, 000 home crowd looked forward to saying a fond farewell to the technical staff, head coach Guus Hiddink and his assistants Fred Rutten and René Eijkelkamp. PSV will meet NAC Breda on Sunday and Feyenoord will focus on the playoffs.
