36-year-old Edwin Zoetebier will be in the service of NAC Breda the next two seasons. The experienced goalkeeper is delighted with the move he has made. "I immediately felt NAC were the right side for me; they should absolutely play in the Dutch top flight." Good family clubNAC secured Eredivisie status by seeing off First Division side FC Volendam in the play-offs. "We had already completed negotiations, assuming that NAC would remain an Eredivisie side. This club obviously deserved to play games at the highest level, as they have a great many faithful fans. They needed those play-offs game to survive, but I have never doubted they would be playing Eredivisie football next term.” Zoetebier indicated during the mid-winter break that he would leave PSV, as he wanted to be a first team stopper for some seasons yet. The goalkeeper and PSV part ways in perfect harmony. "Some clubs showed an interest, but NAC were my first priority. NAC are generally regarded as a good family club. I was not in two minds, when they made me an offer”, explained Zoetebier this morning, when asked for a first reaction by PSV Media. "I enjoyed every moment"The goalkeeper, born and bred in Volendam, is looking back with feelings of great satisfaction at his spell with PSV (2004-2006), during which he achieved great successes at home as well as in Europe. "I enjoyed every moment and genuinely feel I have had a wonderful time here. I spent two superb seasons with PSV. But as an athlete you always want to make appearances. Gomes is a tremendously friendly colleague of mine and I am very content with the way things have gone. I was received very warmly, the PSV fans have always been very supportive and I feel I have had a great spell here." Zoetebier will join the PSV regulars for two more training sessions at De Herdgang training base this week (on Thursday and Friday) and he will also be present at the reception that PSV organize at the end of this week, after which he will enjoy a well-deserved holiday. "I would like to thank all the people in Eindhoven and I am looking forward to meeting them once again next season." CommuteZoetebier has not put pen to paper on his two-year-deal, but he will do so shortly. The goalkeeper will commute between Volendam, where he lives, and Breda and vice versa. "Volendam is my home base; I live there with my family. I love to ply my trade with NAC, where we will play our homes games in front of a sell-out crowd. They want me to be their first team regular man between the posts. I can hardly wait to cooperate with them and I feel confident we can move up the table next season, because that’s where NAC belong."Zoetebier had spells before with FC Volendam, Sunderland, Feyenoord and Vitesse. He made a move to Eindhoven in the summer of 2004 from Feyenoord, where he won the UEFA Cup in 2002.
