Romário finished the North American USL First Division regular season as top scorer. He scored one goal for Miami FC last weekend, taking his season’s tally to eighteen strikes. Miami FC has officially qualified for the USL First Division Playoffs, Eighteen goalsMiami shared the points with Puerto Rico Islanders on Sunday afternoon, following a 1-1 draw, in their last game of the regular season. By finishing their first season in the USL First Division in 5th place, Miami FC has ensured qualification for the playoff games in its debut year. Former PSV striker Romário de Souza Faria, forty years of age, has made a major contribution to the successes by scoring eighteen goals and delivering three assists. Seattle striker William Weaver also netted eighteen goals, but he made five more appearances than the small Brazilian PSV icon.Seventeen to go!Miami has been paired with Vancouver Whitecaps for a two game series, so Romário is set to play at least two more games. The first will be in Canada next Friday and the return leg is scheduled at Miami’s Tropical Park Stadium on Sunday 17 September. Romário has scored 983 goals during his impressive career so far, so he needs seventeen more goals to make his dream of scoring one thousand goals come true. If Miami reaches the semi-finals, Romário will play a few more games in the USA, after which he will return to Vasco da Gama, his club in Brazil.
