PSV have dropped two points in Heerenveen on Sunday afternoon, following a 0-0 draw with sc Heerenveen. It was an even contested affair with PSV and Heerenveen working hard to contain each other. Cocu and Culina made their comebacks. Fourth placePSV have now dropped to fourth place in the Eredivisie table; the gap with Ajax, who have gone top, is two points. AZ drew 2-2 with bottom-of-the-table ADO Den Haag. The Alkmaar outfit had to come from behind twice in the DSB stadium. Heerenveen and PSV met for the fourteenth time. PSV had earned eight wins and Heerenveen collected only two wins, so the two teams had drawn three times so far. And the two sides earned another draw on Sunday afternoon, watched by a 26.000 crowd. Ruling champions PSV have now won four games, lost one and drew one so far this campaign. Gomes pulled off savesThe game in the Abe Lenstra Stadium was kicked off later than scheduled as Riemer van der Velde was given a farewell, after he had been sc Heerenveen Chairman for 23 years. He passed on the chairman’s to his successor Koos Formsma. Neither team succeeded in dictating the pace of the game. Mika Väyrynen and Arouna Koné threatened and at the other end Lasse Nilsson earned a great opportunity, but Gomes thwarted his effort with a fine save. The Brazilian keeper put on a fine performance and pulled off a string of great saves after the break. He pushed a Pranjic free kick away for a corner. Alex was in the right place to assist his country fellow. He cleared the ball off the line after Pranjic again had fired on target. Jan Kromkamp was shown yellow and Heerenveen veteran Paul Bosvelt was also cautioned. Phillip CocuThe game continued in more or less the same vein after the interval, although PSV were the stronger side after Phillip Cocu had left the bench to make a comeback. Soon afterwards Jason Culina was also brought on as a substitute. Cocu earned a good opportunity, but saw his effort go wide of the goal. Koné also created a dangerous moment, but PSV lacked cutting edge. They earned their best chance in the closing stages, when no player connected with a Koné cross. PSV piled up the pressure, but could not break the deadlock. PSV will meet the Belgian side Sint Truiden for a friendly next Wednesday. They will not field their international players, who will all be away on international duty. PSV will be next in action on Sunday 15 October, when they play host to Roda JC.
