It was a new experience for Ronald Koeman; board a plane, knowing his side had already qualified for the knockout stages. " But the circumstances here are fantastic. I wouldn't mind playing a game here every three days." At the pre-match press conference Koeman referred to the defeat PSV suffered against Panathinaikos two seasons ago, after they had already ensured qualification to the next phase. "But once you are here, you know you just can’t play badly. The atmosphere, the stadium and the pitch are awesome. As a football player you wouldn’t mind playing a game here every three days. Yet it is strange to board a plane, realising that we are already through to the first knockout round with two games to play. We might subconsciously start the game in a more relaxed fashion. But now that we have seen the stadium and the pitch, I am sure we will be sharp and go out for victory.""We know Liverpool very well. They are a very strong team. I met them last year, when I was coach at Benfica and we scouted them a few times this season. Their results at home are just fine. Our aim is obviously to continue our good run in Europe and finish top of the group. This is a massive game; we are all sportsmen and want to pull off a good result. There’s much to play for. There is price-money at stake, but we also have an opportunity to enhance our reputation", concluded Koeman in Anfield Stadium. Jan KromkampJan Kromkamp was also behind the desk and British media representatives confronted him with (allegedly) negative remarks he had made about Liverpool. The defender categorically denied having made any negative statements. "I am surprised; I only gave a short interview on BBC radio, but never made any negative statements. I have asked our press officer if he could do something. Things have been blown out of proportion. I don’t want people here to think badly of me. I only said positive things about my spell at Liverpool. They are a quality side; they have a very good technical staff and a very good coach in Rafeal Benitez. It is great to be back here and meet my former team mates. Of course we want to win and I will do my best, as always. Our target now is to finish top in our group", explained Kromkamp.
