An MRI scan has revealed that the knee injury Ismail Aissati sustained during the Dutch 1-0 win over Israel in their UEFA European Under-21 Championship Group A opening game last Sunday is less serious than was initially feared. The 18-year old PSV midfielder possibly will play Saturday against Belgium.
Relief Ismail Aissati was relieved to learn no new damage had been done to his right knee. Netherlands U-21coach Foppe de Haan also sighed a sigh of great relief. It was feared that the talented youngster, who is generally regarded one of the most outstanding players of the tournament, would be ruled out for a long time. Aissati has obviously not yet been able to shake off his knee problem and is unlikely to make an appearance against Portugal U-21 on Wednesday. His aim will be be Belgium, on Saturday.
