Brazil, with <L CODE="C01">Alex Rodrigo Dias da Costa</L> in their starting line-up, have reached the semi-finals of the Copa América, after they crushed Chili 6-1 in spectacular style on Saturday night. Robinho scored a double and was named man of the match.
It was an equally contested game during the first fifteen minutes, but the Brazilians ran riot after Juan had scored the opening goal after 16 minutes and Chili were already trailing 3-0 at half time. After the break Brazil again dominated proceedings and scored three more goals, while Humberto Suazo netted a consolation for Chili fifteen minutes from time.
Brazil face Uruguay in the semi-finals on 10 July. The Uruguayan national team hammered hosts Venezuela 4-1 in a thrilling quarter-final match.
The other two quarter-final clashes are scheduled for tonight. Mexico meet Paraguay and Argentina fight it out with Peru.
<L CODE="C02">Jefferson Farfán</L>, who has sustained a badly swollen ankle, is unavailable for any remaining matches, but the attacker will stay with the national team during the tournament.
