PSV have reached a double-figure score in a pre-season warm-friendly for the third successive time, in the space of six days, after the Eindhoven outfit emphatically beat amateurs Sparta'25 10-0 at Sportpark ´t Heereind in Beel and Donk on Thursday night. Ibrahim Afellay, Otman Bakkal and Arouna Koné all scored a double.

The game in Beek and Donk saw first run-outs for Ismail Aissati and Manuel Da Costa. PSV, who stepped up their summer conditioning work this week, had a bright start and Danko Lazovic opened the scoring after six minutes from a Mike Zonneveld cross. It took a while, but seventeen minutes later the crowd celebrated the second goal, when Da Costa rose unmarked to head home a corner taken by Zonneveld. Lazovic won a penalty after 29 minutes for a slight foul inside the box and captain Timmy Simons duly converted from the penalty spot. One minute before, midfielder Tommie van der Leegte had limped off the pitch after he had picked up a knock in the opening stages. Otman Bakkal, who left the bench to replace van der Leegte, set up Koné after 33 minutes: 0-4. No more goals were scored during the remaining minutes of the first half and Sparta '25, who had not created one single chance in the first period, headed for the dressing room, with their heads up. Trialist goalkeeper David Loria had hardly been tested.

PSV found it hard to get going after the break, until Ibrahim Afellay was brought on as a substitute on the hour mark. The visitors from Eindhoven immediately started some fine moves and were rewarded for their attacking ideas after 66 minutes, when Bakkal cleverly controlled the ball before firing home from a tight angle. Soon afterwards the 22-year-old midfielder turned provider for striker Koné, who scored his second goal of the night. Bakkal and Afellay started a one-two and to the delight of the crowd Afellay finished clinically. Bakkal and Afellay again exchanged neat passes and this time, with ten minutes left, Bakkal was given a chance to score his second goal; 0-8. The impressive Afellay seemed to have the final say when he scored the ninth goal. Just when it looked like PSV would not succeed in reaching double figures, Dirk Marcellis lashed in a long range effort past a totally stranded goalkeeper in the last minute of added time. PSV will be next in action on Saturday afternoon, when they meet amateurs Dosko '32 in Duizel for another pre-season warm-up friendly. Kick-off is at 14:30.
