PSV slipped to a 2-1 defeat against newly-promoted Bundesliga club MSV Duisburg in Germany on Saturday afternoon in a poor pre-season friendly. An own goal by former PSV defender Michael Lamey gave Ronald Koeman's team the lead, but the hosts came from a goal down to eventually snatch a win in the closing stages.

Ronald Koeman had made several changes to the team that drew 1-1 with VVV-Venlo last Wednesday, handing starts to Otman Bakkal, Eric Addo, Alcides and captain Timmy Simons. PSV turned in a rather lacklustre display, playing a sloppy game in low tempo. PSV took the lead after 25 minutes when former PSV defender Michael Lamey deflected a free kick taken by Kenneth Perez past a hapless Starke, 0-1. Lamey earned the best chance to level before the break, but sent his header wide of the goal. PSV were not passing the ball around fluently, while Duisburg also produced little in the way of goalmouth action.
Two more changes were made during half time. Koeman took off Méndez and Lazovic and Jason Culina and young Jonathan took up their places. Ailton was brought on in the MSV Duisburg team, but the small Brazilian did not move about much and was not a great threat up front.
PSV were unable to create any clear-cut chances, while the game dragged on. Aissati was brought on for Perez and Van der Leegte came on to take over from Afellay, but the team as a whole lacked cohesion. Die Zebras cancelled out the deficit with ten minutes remaining. Gomes did well to block a shot from Ailton, but Klemen Lavric pounced on the rebound, tapping home from close range. Substitute Markus Neumayr put the icing on the cake for the hosts, with three minutes left in the game, when he capitalised on some sloppy defending; 2-1.
The PSV squad will have the Sunday off and train on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before they make the trip to Moscow, where they meet Champions League winners AC Milan on Friday.
