Ibrahim Afellay has been ruled out of Holland's friendly against Switzerland. The PSV midfielder is not fit and will stay with PSV in Eindhoven this week. The 21-year-old sustained an ankle injury in PSV's 2-0 opening day win over Heracles on Sunday afternoon. Afellay was by far the best player on the artificial turf in Almelo and capped a great performance by scoring the opening goal.

KNVB Press & Communication Officer Kees Jansma confirmed that coach Marco van Basten has called up Wigan Athletic midfielder Denny Landzaat to deputize for the injured Afellay. The Dutch team will play a friendly against Switzerland in Geneva on Wednesday. Further testing the next few days will reveal the exact nature of the injury. Afellay was frequently the victim of foul play on Sunday afternoon and three Heracles defenders were booked for fouls committed on him. The Dutch sports writers lavished praises on Afellay, who was deservedly named 'man of the match'.
