PSV head coach Ronald Koeman has named an eighteen-man squad for Saturday night's league clash with Vitesse and Jefferson Farfán is one of them. The Peruvian forward has recovered from an injury and may be given his first taste of league action this season. Latest signing Danny Koevermans may be handed his debut at the Philips Stadium. Koeman looks ahead at the game.

Two players will be dropped from the squad

Koeman has twenty players available for the match against Vitesse, two of whom will be dropped from the squad tomorrow and watch the game from the stand. Mika Väyrynen, who is injured, Género Zeefuik, Fagner, Dirk Marcellis, Cássio Ramos and John de Jong have not been called up to the squad. Edison Méndez has minor knee problems, but is set to be included in the squad. “If he comes through this morning's training session unscathed, he is set to be included in the squadâ€, said Koeman at the weekly media briefing at De Herdgang sports centre on Friday afternoon.
Jefferson Farfán
Koeman is keen to add Koevermans and Farfán to his squad in a bid to bolster his attacking options, as PSV play host to Vitesse, CSKA Moscow and Feyenoord in the space of one week. “There is always room for Farfán on our squad. He has resumed full training, but obviously lacks match rhythm. He has been called up for the squad to face Vitesse, but will not start. We have strengthened our attacking options with the signing of Koevermans.â€
Koeman is very much looking forward to the next few weeks. “We look forward to a packed schedule of matches. We play four league games, two Champion League matches and one Dutch Cup tie the next three weeks. It will be a busy period for us, but we will enjoy it.â€

Vitesse

Koeman told media representatives that Vitesse are a different side from last season. “They started the new season brightly and are not likely to change their game plan, so I expect to meet a compact, well-organized and well-balanced team. But we like to play attack-minded football and have several options to break open their defence, in particular now that Koevermans is available.â€
The PSV players will have the Sunday off, but report for training at De Herdgang training base on Monday and at the Philips Stadium on Tuesday to prepare for Wednesday's Champions league first group stage game against CSKA Moscow.
