General Manager Jan Reker explained the club's motives for letting Ronald Koeman and Tonny Bruins Slot move to Valencia. 'We harbour no hard feelings after Koeman told us he wanted to accept a great challenge. We mutually agreed to part company and we have done so in the best interests of everyone.'

Valencia expressed an interest in Ronald Koeman and called PSV on Monday morning. General Manager Jan Reker and technical director Stan Valckx informed Koeman on Tuesday morning. Jan Reker. 'Both parties provided a complete update and clarified their points of view in an atmosphere of harmony. We first asked: 'Can't this wait until next year? Or until the January transfer window? Or can't we go on for three more matches? Or will it be better for Koeman to leave PSV with immediate effect? We started negotiations at nine o'clock and reached agreement at 1.30 p.m. We are happy that we have parted company with Ronald Koeman with mutual agreement and in the best of spirits. It's a shame for PSV, but Ronald considers this move the ultimate challenge. That's the way it goes in the world of football. If we had forced Ronald Koeman to stay with us for three more matches, the pressure would have been too severe.'
PSV will now start search for a new coach, but General Manager Jan Reker was not willing to divulge any details.
