"PSV are satisfied about the way the negotiations for the broadcasting rights for matches in the Netherlands' highest professional football league, the Holland Casino Eredivisie, has been carried out and are optimistic about future development", was the first reaction of PSV Director Rob Ribbers. All Dutch Eredivisie clubs have unanimously agreed with the choice of their media partners. The Eredivisie Board met with representatives of all Eredivisie clubs on Wednesday to discuss which partner would get the broadcasting rights for Eredivisie matches for the next three seasons. The big winner was Talpa, which secured the first rights to broadcast highlights of the games. Versatel have been granted the right to broadcast games live and the Dutch Broadcasting Company will maintain the right to broadcast match reports on radio. So Talpa, owned by Dutch billionaire and media mogul John de Mol, has secured the important soccer rights and the highlights will be covered by his new broadcasting venture and not by the Dutch Broadcasting Company any longer. One game will be broadcast live every Friday night by a commercial TV station. The rights have been bought for an amount of 70 million euros, which is substantially higher than the amount of money involved in the former deal. The new agreements will be in effect as from 1 July 2005.PSV Chairman Rob Westerhof is content. "PSV are in a positive frame of mind for the developments in the market. "We hope that the cooperation between these partners will be as good as it has always been." Rob Ribbers announces that all clubs have agreed unanimously." This is a wonderful outcome. We have carefully considered all the pros and cons. Several issues have been discussed. Apart from the financial offers, we have also considered the possibilities of a closer cooperation in the future to develop and promote the Eredivisie. PSV are very ambitious in the field of technology and we have many ideas on new media and digital television. We have noticed that our new partners are also interested in these phenomena."
