PSV caretaker coach Jan Wouters told media representatives at the weekly briefing on Friday afternoon that captain Timmy Simons will not travel with the team to Moscow on Sunday, as the Belgian is struggling with a back problem. Jan Wouters will be forced to shuffle his pack in Rotterdam on Saturday night.

After it was announced earlier this week that Saturday's match against Excelsior would come too soon for Simons, Wouters informed the media today that the PSV captain is also ruled out of Tuesday's Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow. Tommie van der Leegte, who usually fills in for Simons, will also stay in Eindhoven. 'He has been suffering from chronic intestinal complaints lately and will be out for several weeks', explained Wouters.
The coaching staff has some selection worries ahead of the domestic league encounter with Excelsior. 'A number of players feel tired after having played two international games in quick succession, while Culina and Afellay, who have been out for eight weeks, are building themselves up to full match fitness. They cannot start yet.' Culina and Afellay have been included in the squad, though, along with Méndez and Farfán. Eric Addo is the most likely candidate to deputise for Simons in midfield. 'He used to play as a midfielder during his spell with Roda JC and he plays in midfield for Ghana as well. But we haven't made up our minds yet.'
Carlos Salcido will act wear the captain's armband during Saturday night's encounter with Excelsior and Tuesday night's clash with CSKA Moscow.
