PSV face tough opposition in Doetinchem when they take on De Graafschap on Saturday night. The newly-promoted team usually earns most points at home, but they have pulled off some fine results on their travels this season as well. 'They have bounced back after a poor start to the campaign', said Jan Wouters at the media briefing at on Friday afternoon.

'De Graafschap always provide tough opposition, when they entertain the big clubs at De Vijverberg, so we expect a tough encounter on Saturday night as well', said Wouters. De Graafschap's 8-1 mauling at home against Ajax in this season's curtain drawer apparently had no effect on the newly promoted club. They remained unbeaten in the other home fixtures, against VVV-Venlo (3-2), FC Twente (0-0), Sparta Rotterdam (4-0) and Excelsior (1-1). Last weekend the team coached by Jan de Jonge, who recently reached agreement about a contract extension, pulled off a stunning 3-2 win, away against sc Heerenveen Captain Timmy Simons is available again, after he has shaken off a nasty back problem. Although the Belgian international trained with the squad only once this week, Wouters is anxious to hand him a start. 'He is available again.'
Jan Wouters still does not aspire to be head coach of PSV, although he led his team to two victories in a row against Excelsior and CSKA Moscow respectively. 'I am in temporary charge following the departure of Koeman, with Vergoossen setting to take over in January and that situation has not changed. It is obviously nice to win games, but it has never been my ambition to take charge here as head coach.'
Caretaker coach Jan Wouters has a near full-strength squad to select from for the trip to Doetinchem. 'With the games coming thick and fast from now until the new year, we need a large squad. Of course we can field only eleven players, which means that some first-team squad members will not feature much. Sometimes we make tactical changes and at times we look at the amount of appearances a player has made. I can sympathise with players that are dropped to the bench or the stands, but as a professional player you must learn how to cope with setbacks', explained Wouters, who added that all players that trained this morning, including Jan Kromkamp, are match fit. Manuel da Costa has made progress in rehabilitating from his injury. 'He is recovering well; I think he has reached match fitness for about 70%.'
