Jan Wouters briefly analysed the game at the post-match press conference at the Euroborg. 'We have been taught a lesson here. FC Groningen were more eager to win and showed more fighting spirit', admitted the PSV interim coach. 'You can only win a game, if you win the ball and contest every inch of ground. We failed to do so this afternoon. After the break we played slightly better than in the first period, but FC Groningen dug deep and fully deserved to win.'
FC Groningen coach Ron Jans was impressed by the fighting spirit his players had shown. 'Actually we intended to throw men forward for some ten minutes and then cleverly put pressure on them, but we incredibly kept going for the full 90 minutes. We came from a goal down to claim a 2-1 comeback win. We deserved to win. I am delighted with my team's response and very happy with the three points. '
