The players were in buoyant mood as PSV's new head coach Sef Vergoossen and his assistant Dwight Lodeweges oversaw their first training session with the team at the club's training complex De Herdgang on Monday afternoon. January signing Balázs Dzsudzsák from Hungary joined his new team mates for full training.

Four players were absent at the first trainings session in the new year. Young Brazilian Jonathan Reis had not returned from his native country yet, due to a delayed flight. Jefferson Farfán is expected to return from Peru later this afternoon and Carlos Salcido takes off from Mexico for the Netherlands tonight. The 27-year old defender will join up with the squad on Tuesday. Eric Addo is away on international duty. Ghana coach Claude Le Roy has named him in his squad for the Africa Cup of Nations. Ghana are currently in the United Arab Emirates to prepare for the prestigious tournament.
Three players, Jan Kromkamp, Tommie van der Leegte and John de Jong, have been given the go-ahead to resume full training after they have recovered from long term injuries.
