The Dutch morning newspapers and several internet sites publish many articles on the New Year’s reception organized by PSV and the traditional speech, made by PSV Chairman Rob Westerhof. The interview with the new PSV Chairman resulted into many news items. A new Chinese website and the resulting generation of revenue in the Far East, the future of head coach Guus Hiddink and the uproar surrounding Roda JC striker Arouna Koné presented enough material for the regional and national media. Below you will find a summary of the news.’PSV want to organize their own tournament’ was the headline in this morning’s issue of De Telegraaf, in which it is said that PSV want to organize a tournament for international top teams. Chairman Rob Westerhof feels this is a realistic topic in the near future. "We have seen that Ajax generate far more money from tournaments than PSV. But our fans would obviously never forgive us for organizing a tournament at the other end of the world, say, one week before the start of the national league. That is the appropriate moment to present your own in your own stadium", explained Westerhof in Het Algemeen Dagblad. Westerhof has not mentioned any date for this new initiative yet. He said he would prefer to organize such an event during the mid-winter break. PSV expect to be able to put a top tournament on the market, with the support of main sponsors Philips Nike.'Hiddink can be coach at the 2006 World Cup '’PSV grant Guus Hiddink renewed appearance at the 2006 World Cup’, is the item of news with which De Telegraaf informs its readers. "Guus Hiddink is a trade of its own", stated PSV Chairman Westerhof. "He puts across a strong personality to our club." Westerhof realizes, however, that Hiddink would be in for a hectic year, if he opts for the temporary role as national coach during the 2005 World Cup. The Eindhovens Dagblad concludes that 'Guus Hiddink will stay with PSV for some time yet as a trainer. "I don’t expect Hiddink to leave the pitch”, is a quotation in the paper. Hiddink himself had announced that he wants to make an assessment after each season and decide whether he can still combine the activities as Technical Director with those of Head Coach. ’Koné not feasible, following a Roda turn-around'Several newspapers report that PSV are not going to close any major deals during the January transfer window. PSV were about to close a loan deal with Roda JC-spits Arouna Koné, but the deal failed to materialize, according to the newspaper De Telegraaf because of ‘the renowned business sense’ shown by Nol Hendriks, the experienced member of the Roda board. "He has proved to be a great businessman once again. I sent him some fine bottles of wine with the best wishes for the New Year, but Nol could not be persuaded to complete a loan deal for Koné, which I think is a shame."The Voetbal International website reports that Arouna Koné is also linked with English clubs.
