PSV maintained their nine-point lead at the Eredivisie summit, as they earned a comfortable 4-1 victory over De Graafschap at the Philips Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The defending champions did not put in a sparkling display, following a physically demanding midweek UEFA Cup tie, but were content to bag all three points. Danko Lazovic scored a double, and Otman Bakkal and Timmy Simons also got their names on the score sheet.
PSV enjoyed a great weekend after closest challengers Feyenoord were held to a 3-3 draw at Heracles and NAC Breda as well as sc Heerenveen crashed to defeat. With nine league games to go, the gap between leaders PSV and runners-up Ajax, who will make a trip to Eindhoven on 9 March, is nine points. Late scores help PSV to a flattering win. De Graafschap and PSV were well-matched during large spells and the visitors created some good chances. PSV kept their composure, though, and patiently waited for chances to kill off the game.

PSV welcomed Farfán en Kromkamp back to their starting line up. The visitors from Doetichem started aggressively and received three great yellow cards within the first fifteen minutes. They opened the scoring after seven minutes when Lasse Schöne shot from 40 yards out and saw his effort roll over the line; 0-1. PSV responded immediately when he climbed above his marker to head home an equaliser; 1-1. Dzsudzsák came close to putting PSV on top with a free kick, while Farfán had a decent penalty appeal turned down by referee Van Sichem. Robbemond brought out a fine save from Gomes. On the stroke of half time, PSV survived a major square when Tarvajärvi hit the post. In the last minute of first half stoppage time Bakkal was one-on one with De Graafschap keeper Van Fessem, but to the dismay of the faithful PSV fans he failed to finish clinically.
PSV were on top five minutes into the second half when Bakkal was on target. The PSV box-to-box man was on hand to head home from a corner. The home side were in the driver's seat after they had taken 2-1 lead, but did not put in a particularly convincing second half display. De Graafschap came close to scoring an equaliser, but Tarvajärvi sent his header wide. Ten minutes from time, PSV put the result beyond doubt. Hese was sent off for a professional foul on Afellay and Simons coolly converted a trade mark spot kick. Lazovic added another goal, taking his season's tally to ten goals, making sure of an emphatic 4-1 win. Salcido will miss the next match against FC Utrecht after he picked up a yellow card, but will return from suspension when PSV play host to Ajax on Sunday 9 March.
