Tottenham Hotspur's South Korean defender Young-Pyo Lee played spent two-and-a-half seasons at PSV, from January 2003 until the summer of 2005. He became the second South Korean player to move to the Premiership after former PSV team mate Park Ji-Sung joined Manchester United in June 2005.

46-year-old keeper Hans Segers, who spent six seasons at PSV (1978-1984), operated as goalkeeping coach at the Spurs. One day after Tottenham Hotspur manager Martin Jol parted company with the club after their poor start to the season, Segers, who was born in Eindhoven, also stepped down. He worked with the goalkeepers from 2001 until 2007 and made one appearance between the posts himself.
Tottenham beat Chelsea on Sunday after extra time after Jonathan Woodgate scored the winning goal four minutes into the extended period. Jermaine Jenas sent in a vicious free kick and Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech came to collect it, but punched it straight into Woodgate's face before the ball bounced over the line; 2-1. The Spurs fully deserved to win the League Cup, as they put in a commanding display and created most chances.
