Nelisse, Cornelisse and Van Dijk gave FC Utrecht a 3-1 win at the New Galgenwaard Stadium in Utrecht on Sunday afternoon to end PSV's ten-game unbeaten league run. The title race is wide open in Holland as the defending Dutch champions saw their lead at the top of Eredivisie cut to six points following the 3-1 defeat.
The gap between leaders PSV and runners-up Ajax, who thrashed lowly Excelsior 4-0 at the Amsterdam ArenA, is six points, so Sunday's fixture against Ajax at the Philips Stadium may very well be labeled as a crucial one.

PSV were forced to make one change to their starting line up: Alcides moved into the centre of defence to replace the suspended Salcido. The home side started most flowing moves, but PSV made the breakthrough after 26 minutes. Referee Frank De Bleeckere from Belgium awarded the visitors a penalty after 26 minutes for an apparent handball by Aljo Schut after Dzsudzsák had delivered a cross from the left flank. Captain Timmy Simons stepped up to convert his fourth penalty in as many matches. It turned out to be a short-lived lead, as FC Utrecht were back on level terms barely six minutes later. They won a free kick and Nelisse headed home the equaliser. The two teams put in a spirited and passionate display, fighting for every inch of ground. Cornelisse put the hosts ahead on the stroke of half time, when, left completely unmarked, he headed home at the far post.
Vergoossen took off Bakkal at half time for Méndez, but the game continued in the same vein after the break. The hosts kept on closing down PSV all over the park and Vergoossen's team was made to defend deeply. Koevermans came on for Lazovic after 67 minutes in a bid to salvage a point, but PSV's leading scorer was isolated up front. Fourteen minutes from time FC Utrecht were home and dry. Schut won fouled by Alcides in the box and Van Dijk coolly converted the resulting penalty; 3-1, the final score being a fair reflection of the game. PSV have hardly time to lick their wounds. They face a hectic fixture list: Tottenham away, Ajax at home, and Tottenham at home before they make the trip to Kerkrade to meet Roda JC.
