PSV head coach Sef Vergoossen expects midfielder Ibrahim Afellay to be available to face Tottenham Hotspur at the Philips Stadium on Wednesday evening in the UEFA Cup Round of 16 return leg. 'My gut feeling is he will start', said Vergoossen at the pre-match conference in the press hall of the Philips Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. Centre back Carlos Salcido also previewed tomorrow night's game.
The Mexican defender stressed that PSV face another test of concentration as Tottenham surge forward. 'The game requires ninety minutes of concentration, just like at White Heart Lane. We must put in a commanding display in order to book a place in the quarter finals.'
Ibrahim Afellay, who joined his team mates for full training on Tuesday morning, looks set to start. 'We'll have to wait and see if he comes through the training session unscathed, but things look all right. My gut feeling is he will start', said Vergoossen, who told media representatives that PSV are physically and mentally ready for tomorrow evening's challenge.
