Holland U-17 failed to reach the final of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship, as they were beaten 2-1 by Spain in the semi-finals after extra time at the Atatürk Stadium in Antalya in Turkey. France and hosts Turkey drew 1-1, but France are also into Friday's final after beating Turkey in a penalty shoot-out.

Captain Jeroen Zoet and Imad Najah played the full 90 minutes, but a third PSV player, Youness Mokthar, was taken off on the hour mark. Both sides looked a little tentative in the opening exchanges, but the game sparked into life when Rodney Sneijder, the younger brother of Real Madrid star Wesley, headed home from a cross at the far post, while he was left completely unmarked. Straight after the restart, Pulido was put clear and keeper Zoet, who had put in some commanding displays during the tournament, could not prevent him from leveling the score. When the final whistle went, the score was still 1-1, so the game went into extra time. With the second ten-minute period only two minutes old, Ángel Martínez unleashed a fierce twenty-yard shot that beat Zoet.
