Huub Stevens, who will be head coach of PSV as from 1 July, ended the Bundesliga season in Hamburg on a high note. Stevens led his Hamburger SV side to an emphatic 7-0 victory against Karlsruher FC in the last match of the season, securing a place in the Uefa Cup. He put pen to paper on a two-year deal with PSV in November 2007 and will be in charge in Eindhoven the next two seasons.

Rafael van der Vaart, who put in a 'man of the match' performance, opened the scoring against a lacklustre Karlsruher SC. The playmaker of the Dutch team also set up three other goals, providing two assists for Paulo Guerrero. The home side ended their campaign on a high: Die Rothosen finished their season in fourth place, securing a spot in the Uefa Cup tournament.
