While most players are either preparing for the Euro 2008 campaign or enjoying a well-deserved holiday, Eric Addo and Jason Culina were away on international duty with Ghana and Australia, respectively, to play qualifying matches for the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

The Black Stars, with Eric Addo in their starting line-up, got off to winning start in Group 5 in their qualifying campaign, as they recorded an emphatic 3-0 victory against Libya. The Ghanese team recorded their first victory since they claimed a third-place at the African Cup of Nations earlier this year.

The Socceroos faced Iraq in Brisbane. Harry Kewell scored the winning goal in Australia's slender 1-0 win on the stroke of half time. Australia coach Pim Verbeek included Jason Culina in his starting line-up and the PSV midfielder played the full 90 minutes.
Elsewhere, a number of PSV players represented their countries in international friendlies. On Friday night, Timmy Simons captained the Belgium side who suffered a 3-1 defeat against Italy, Holland's first Euro 2008 opponent.

Serbia were beaten 2-1 by Germany in Gelsenkirchen on Saturday. PSV striker Danko Lazovic was brought on as a substitute at half time, while Slobodan Rajkovic, who had been called up to the Serbia squad for the first time, did not leave the bench. Hungary hosted Croatia on Saturday night as well and were held to a 1-1 draw. Balázs Dzsudzsák was handed a start, but was taken off after 64 minutes.
