The Netherlands' Olympic coach Foppe de Haan will not cut his 36-man provisional squad to 22 players before next week Tuesday. De Haan was to name a 22-man squad on Friday July 11, but has postponed making a decision for a few days as some players will first do a fitness test.
Final squad announced on 23 July
The internationals are to report in Oisterwijk on 20 July for a training camp ahead of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Three days later, the Dutch Olympic team will meet Belgium, who have also qualified for the Olympic Games, in a friendly in Genk on Wednesday 23 July, with an 8.30pm kick off. The final eighteen-man squad and four standby players will be announced on that same day.

Three days later, on 26 July, the Olympic team will head for Hongkong, where they take part in the ING Cup tournament, from 26 July until 3 August as their final preparations for the Beijing Olympic Games. They will meet Cameroon in their opening game on 30 July and will face Ivory Coast three days later on Saturday August 2. The USA, who have been paired with Holland in Group B at the Olympic Games, will also take part in the pre-Olympic tournament in Hongkong.

On Sunday August 3, the team will then travel to Tianjin, where they play their first two group stage matches. The Netherlands are drawn alongside Nigeria, Japan and the United States in Group B. They face Nigeria on August 7 and meet the United States of America three days later.
