Newcastle United play host to PSV and Valencia (PSV.nl)

This week, Newcastle United will continue their pre-season programme at St. James's Park, their famous home base. Tonight Kevin Keegan's team play host to PSV, and they will entertain Spanish cup holders Valencia on Saturday afternoon. The Magpies are anxious to claim their first pre-season win, following a double defeat during last weekend's Mallorca Summer Cup tournament.

Keegan's team suffered 1-0 defeats against Hertha BSC and hosts Real Mallorca in the Mallorca Summer Cup tournament in Mallorca last weekend. Newcastle United, who are roared on during their home matches by a sell-out 52, 000 crowd, will play their first pre-season home game when they take on PSV tonight. Huub Stevens and his squad will travel to Palma next week to meet Real Mallorca in their final pre-season friendly on foreign soil.

Newcastle will open their campaign against Premier League Champions Manchester United at Old Trafford on August 17. The Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul is still under contract with Newcastle United and was fielded against Real Mallorca last weekend.
The Newcastle fans are looking forward to tonight's pre-season friendly against PSV; kick off 7.45 GMT, as it will be the first chance for most of them to see the summer signings Jonas Gutierrez, Sebastien Bassong and Danny Guthrie in action. PSV will train near the team's hotel this morning to prepare for tonight's game.
