Edison Méndez will resume group training on Monday. The Ecuadorian midfielder has recovered from an upper leg injury, told head coach Huub Stevens reporters during a press briefing in England on Friday afternoon. Stevens has kept constantly in touch with members of his backroom staff who have remained behind in Eindhoven.

Stevens spoke and took questions from Dutch reporters for about an hour during a press briefing in Liverpool. The PSV head coach told them that Méndez, who has remained behind in Eindhoven for treatment, will resume group training on Monday. 'I've been in touch with fitness coach Luc van Agt. Méndez wanted to step up his rehabilitation programme, but I haven't risked anybody this summer.' Stevens added that Danny Koevermans is making good progress towards being fit for the season's opening game. 'He looks fit, but he is not match fit. But he does well at training.' Koevermans will definitely not start against Everton. Two other injured players, keeper Bas Roorda and defender Jan Kromkamp, seem to be going on the right track, according to Stevens.
