Former PSV striker Arouna Koné is expected to miss most of the 2008/09 season. The Ivory Coast international tore the cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee during his country's 2-1 friendly win over Guinea in Paris on Wednesday.
Sevilla
Last summer, Arouna Koné joined Sevilla in Spain, but had a disappointing season. He made 32 appearances for the Spanish Primera Division club, scoring just one goal. The 24-year-old striker was keen to make amends this season, but will now face a lengthy time on the sidelines. Koné will undergo further medical examination to assess when he will undergo surgery. Arouna Koné joined PSV from Roda JC in the 2005/06 season. He spent two seasons with PSV, making 52 league appearances and scoring 21 goals. He played two games in PSV colours during the pre-season campaign last season before he moved to Spain.
