Huub Stevens has confirmed that Jan Kromkamp will make his long-awaited comeback against Young PSV in the Dutch Cup tomorrow night. Carlos Salcido has recovered from a groin injury and looks fit enough to play. Nordin Amrabat has completed a two-match ban. The PSV head coach has added Funso Ojo to PSV's first-team squad.
'We won't take any risks with Salcido'
Kromkamp will make his second appearance since returning to full fitness. The defender played one half with Young PSV last week. Carlos Salcido was ruled out of Saturday's game at AZ in Alkmaar due to a groin problem. The Mexican trained at De Herdgang on Monday morning and the medical staff will first assess his fitness before Stevens takes a decision tomorrow. 'I won't take any risks with Salcido.' Nordin Amrabat, who missed the games against Sparta Rotterdam and AZ through suspension, is included in the squad. Huub Stevens has added Young PSV defender Funso Ojo to his senior squad. 'He is a talented youngster and a bright future awaits him. But he still has a lot to learn and is in the bottom of my pecking order.' Ojo has only been added to the squad for tomorrow night's tie.
'Unhappy with draw'
Stevens admitted he is unhappy with the draw. 'It's too bad we have been paired with Young PSV. The rules for the draw have been changed and such a dull draw will not be possible next season. I am sorry we have been drawn against our second string. We want to reach the next round, but it will unfortunately be at the expense of Young PSV', said Stevens during Monday afternoon's press briefing. 'Our main target is to reach the next phase and we will seize the opportunity to field some players who are short on match rhythm.'
Ibrahim Afellay won't start
Ibrahim Afellay is not likely to start, intimated Stevens. 'He picked up a knock and is suffering from a bruised to'. Afellay was in hospital on Monday morning but a scan revealed no major damage.' PSV are the visiting team and will play in their away strip. The cup tie at the Philips Stadium kicks off at 18:45 CET. The admission is free but there will be a collection for KWF Fight against Cancer.
