Several Belgian newspapers report that Timmy Simons will be fit enough to start the two forthcoming World Cup qualifying games against Bosnia-Herzegovina. On Saturday night, the Red Devils meet Bosnia at the Cristal Arena, home of KRC Genk. Simons trained separately from the rest of the Belgium squad on Tuesday. The captain is troubled by a back problem.
Two qualifiers
The Red Devils are currently lying third behind leaders Spain and second-placed Turkey in the World Cup qualifying Group 5. The World Cup takes place in South Africa from 14 to 28 June 2010. Saturday's opponents Bosnia are trailing Belgium coach René Vandereycken's team by just one point. The group winners automatically qualify while the best eight runners up play each other for the remaining four places. After Saturday's game, Belgium will again meet Bosnia-Herzegovina. That World Cup 2010 qualifying game is scheduled to take place in Zenica on Wednesday, April 1.
