Blackburn Rovers announce that Johann Vogel had his contract with the Premiership club terminated by mutual consent. The Swiss midfielder, who played for PSV from 1999 to 2005, joined Blackburn in March 2008, but made just eight appearances during his twelve months at Ewood Park.
Not much impact
The Rovers official website as well as Johann Vogel's personal website announce the news today. After Vogel had left PSV as a free agent, he played for AC Milan, Betis Sevilla and Blackburn Rovers, where he met up with former PSV team mate André Ooijer. The midfielder did not make much impact in Italy, Spain and England. He was on the pitch for only seven minutes this season, when he came on as a substitute against Liverpool in December 2008 and made a start in an FA Cup tie. Vogel, who will turn 32 next month, won the Dutch title with PSV four times and reached the semi finals of the UEFA Champions League in May 2005. He also won the championship with Grasshoppers in his native country three times and has earned 94 caps for Switzerland.
