PSV claimed a 4-1 win over RBC in an action-packed game. PSV earned four penalties and RBC had one player sent off. PSV head coach Guus Hiddink felt at the post-match press conference that his side "had collected a comfortable win."His colleague Jan van Dijk explained that RBC had good intentions on their trip to Eindhoven. "We did pretty well in the first half and we didn’t concede a goal in that period. But the game was over when PSV earned their third penalty and we were reduced to ten men. It then developed into a cat and mouse game. We could very well have been hammered by PSV." Guus Hiddink agreed with the solid analysis of his colleague "We could have scored more goals and we should have scored the opening goal before the break. But from the restart we did well and upped a few gears. I was sure that it would pay off sooner or later. It may have been a grotesque game with all these penalty decisions, but we have gained an easy victory and that’s a good thing", felt Hiddink. In the final stages referee Van der Hilst was on the verge of showing RBC defender Fortes Rodriguez a second yellow card, but PSV captain Mark van Bommel convinced the referee that he should not do so. Both coaches fully agreed that it was an act of sportsmanship. `An excellent, professional act`, was the compliment Van Dijk paid the PSV captain. Hiddink complimented Van der Hilst on 'his wisdom and capacity to understand things.
