Penalty shoot out
England were leading 3-0 at half time but Sweden Under-21 roared back after the break. FC Groningen striker Marcus Berg scored goals in the 61st and 81st minute, and Toivonen netted an equaliser after 75 minutes with a curling free kick. England were reduced to ten men in extra time following the dismissal of Fraizer Campbell for two yellow cards. James Milner missed the first spot kick for England, but Berg also had his penalty saved. When Guilermo Molins directed Sweden's first kick of sudden death against the bar, Sweden were eliminated from the European Championship. Toivonen did not step up to convert a penalty. England will meet Germany in the tournament's final, after Germany beat Italy 1-0 in the other semi-final tie.
