PSV had a stuttering start to the new Superleague Formula season. PSV driver Dominick Muermans managed to finish in ninth place in the first race at Magny-Cours, but things went wrong in the second race. Muermans, pushing hard, made a mistake, landed in the gravel and was forced to retire.
Zolder hosts second round next month
Muermans was still feeling optimistic after the qualification on Friday and the first race. But after the opening rounds of the 2009 Superleague Formula, the 24-year-old heads for the third and fourth rounds of the 12-race series at Zolder in Belgium (18-19 July) placed sixteenth in the standings. Liverpool claimed first blood when Vallés won the opening race at ease. Dutchman Yelmer Buurman in the RSC Anderlecht car, finished second. Reigning GP2 champion Giorgio Pantano took honours for AC Milan in the second race while Liverpool FC came out on top in the new 'Weekend Winner' contest with Adrian Vallés comfortably winning the Super Final. PSV was not allowed to compete in the Super Final. The Belgian circuit Zolder, at an hour's drive from Eindhoven, will be hosting the second round of this year's championship 0n 18-19 July.
