"It's great to claim a win here now that we have such a hectic schedule", said PSV head coach Guus Hiddink at the post-match press conference. Groningen coach Ron Jans felt that his side ‘had not been doing badly’, but he added that he 'was not content'."We are having a tough week and an away game against Groningen is by no means an easy one", started Guus Hiddink his analysis of the game. "It was a balanced game in the first forty-five minutes. We were in control. We did not create many chances, but we did not concede much, either. We scored the opening goal at a very convenient moment; just on the stroke of half time. I think we should have made sure of victory in the early stages of the second half. Groningen played all or nothing in the final stages and we committed some silly fouls. They kept on delivering long balls in our penalty area and threatened, but we held on."His FC Groningen colleague Ron Jans explained that his team wanted to disorganize PSV in the first half. "We knew that the longer it would take for them to break the deadlock, the more chances we would get. But obviously we were disillusioned when they scored their goal at the end of the first period. After the break we could not dominate, as PSV superbly controlled the game. We haven’t been doing that badly, but I’m never satisfied after we’ve slipped to defeat."
