The Dutch team U20, who has also won their final group game, has collected all nine points from their three games. Holland have reached the second round, following a slender 1-0 win over Benin. The victory was marred by a serious ankle injury that PSV midfielder Afellay has sustained during the game. AfellayFoppe de Haan, coach of the Dutch team U20, had told beforehand that he was not willing to take any unnecessary risks. However, Ibrahim Afellay, of all players, who had recovered from a hamstring injury, was stretchered off the pitch. He fell down awkwardly after an aerial fight and it is feared the midfielder has broken an ankle.MaduroNederland-Benin was not a great performance, but the victory was surely deserved. Holland created plenty of chances and the deadlock was broken on the stroke of half time. Captain Hedwiges Maduro cleverly started a mazy run past a few defenders and fired home off a post. The Dutch enjoyed a man-more advantage for nearly half of the game, as Charaf Chitou was cautioned for the second time five minutes from the break.
