Renowned youth teams take part in Otten Cup (PSV.nl)

A great many renowned teams will participate in the PSV International Youth Tournament. This prestigious tournament will be held at the PSV De Herdgang training ground during the weekend from 12 August to 14 August next.ArsenalEight sides of top teams from five countries will compete this year. Ajax, Feyenoord, sc Heerenveen and PSV represent Holland. The highest youth teams of Arsenal FC (England), Hertha BSC (Germany), Universidad Catolica de Chile (Chili) and the winners of the 2004 edition, Vitória (Brazil) are the foreign participants. PSV have won the tournament eighteen times so far. They last clinched the trophy in 2003, when they hammered rivals Ajax 8-0 in the final. Vitória were last year’s tournament winners by collecting a 1-0 win over Feyenoord. It was the fourth time in eight years that the Brazilians won the tournament. 2005 scheduleThe eight participating teams will be divided into two groups. Each team plays three group games. Heerenveen, Arsenal, Feyenoord and Vitória are the teams of group A, so Universidad Catolica de Chile, Ajax, Hertha BSC and PSV are the teams of group B. The group games will be played on Friday night 12 August and Saturday 13 August. The numbers one of the groups meet the numbers two on Sunday morning 14 August for the semi finals. The final is scheduled on Sunday afternoon. Admission is freeIr. OttenThe youth tournament, at which the Otten Cup is at stake, was held for the first time in August 1947. Ir. P.F.S. Otten, the then N.V. Philips President, played a major part in the organization and the tournament is named after him.
