PSV head coach Guus Hiddink is to lead up the Australian national team to the 2006 World Cup in Germany, after a 32-year absence from the finals. Record speaks for itselfThe Football Federation Australia confirmed the appointment of the PSV head coach and General Manager on their website today. "He has had a distinguished career and his record speaks for itself”, explained Frank Lowy, Chairman of the Football Federation Australia. Hiddink coached the national teams of Holland and South Korea to the semi-finals of World Cups.Training camp in HollandHiddink is said to start with the Quantas Socceroos this summer and conduct a training camp in Holland, together with Technical Manager Ron Smith and Assistant Coach Graham Arnold, a former Roda JC striker. He will continue to coach the PSV first team, but he will also spend time meeting and watching Australian players in Europe and Australia. If Australia succeed in qualifying for the 2006 World Cup, Hiddink will coach the Australian national team at the World Cup.
