The Dutch team drew 2-2 with Germany in a friendly in Rotterdam. Former PSV player Arjen Robben was man of the match and scored both goal for his country.. On top at half timePSV midfielder Phillip Cocu was included in the starting line-up; his PSV colleagues Wilfred Bouma and Theo Lucius started on the bench.The hosts had a brilliant start and took an early lead. Cocu dlevered a long ball; Würns felt the pressure of Vann Nistelrooy and headed the ball to Robben who blasted the ball home into the roof of the net.The former PSVwinger was played on the right flank and Kuyt occupied the left wing. The Germans did not perform too well and created hardly any chances in the first half. The hosts earned some golden opportunities. Robben rounded two defenders before he found Van Nistelrooy with a clever through ball, but Van Nistelrooy's shot went across the goal. Minutes later Landzaat hit the bar with a superb lob. The German goalkeeper Kahn had two lucky escapes. Germany stage a brave combackMany cha nges had been brought about at the restart. One of them was PSV defender Bouma who came on for debutant De Cler. ASnd again Holland wasted no time in finding the net. Robben started a solo run and fired on target. Kahn touched the ball but could not prevent the second goal.The Germans got back into the game by means of a corner. Captain Ballack managed to get rid of Cocu and headed home; 2-1. But that was not all for Marco van Basten and his men. Asamoah rounded keeper Van der Sar and scored the equalizer from an acute angle. It was a huge disappointment for the Dutch team that had started the game so well. They will meet Armenia on 3 September next in a World Cup 2006 qualifying game.
