PSV manager Guus Hiddink called opponents Fenerbahçe a well-balanced side, at the customary pre-match press conference. The starting line-up will not be announced until tomorrow, as PSV have a long casualty list.Only strong playersHiddink told representatives of the Turkish and Dutch press that it was great to be back again at the familiar surroundings of the club where he used to work fifteen years ago. "The club has undergone a complete modernization in accordance with European standards all those years and a European way of thinking definitely pervades this club." The PSV technical staff have scouted the team coached by the German Christoph Daum a couple of times. Hiddink’s conclusion: "Fenerbahçe are a well-balanced side and they have only strong players. The fact that they were beaten by AC Milan only in the final stages is ample evidence", explained Hiddink. >b>AmbianceHiddink said that PSV are plagued by injuries. "Six players that I would like to have included in the starting line-up are ruled out. We have some doubts in our squad and tomorrow we are going to see if they can start." Hiddink referred to Gomes, Lamey, Alex and Afellay. As to the latter: "He will face a fitness test tonight and we will find out tomorrow how he has responded."Hiddink expects some heated scenes and a great atmosphere in the Fenerbahçe Stadium. "The circumstances will be tough for us; the home crowd is loyal and fanatic. The ambiance will be attractive, and we want to put on a convincing display."
