PSV are on top of Champions League group E, following a great and well-deserved 1-0 win in their fourth group stage tie over AC Milan. Farfán scored the only goal of the night in the Eindhoven Philips Stadium on twelve minutes. Seven pointsPSV and giants AC Milan faced one another for the fourth time in a few months’ time. In spite of a win, PSV were eliminated from the Champions league in dramatic fashion by AC Milan at the beginning of May, but the Eindhoven outfit now took sweet revenge and left the pitch to a roaring ovation of the home fans. PSV held firmly on to a 0-0 draw in San Siro a fortnight ago and they kept another blank sheet on Tuesday night. As Schalke beat Fenerbahçe 2-0, PSV have now moved to the first place in the group, having earned seven points from their four group games. They have two more games to go (away to Schalke and at home to Fenerbahçe), and stand a fair chance of qualifying for the knockout phase. But the most important thing for the fans was the wonderful victory over AC Milan tonight. PSV, who had to replace six regular at the start of the season, had beaten the favourites from Milan!Farfán goalPhillip Cocu earned the first chance of the game on only two minutes, but his header was too weak to surprise keeper Dida. Ten minutes later the home crowd in the Philips Stadium with ecstatic with joy, when Milan full left back Kaladze mistakenly headed back. Jefferson Farfán pounced on the ball and noticed there was just some space between the post and the goalkeeper. He struck home a powerful low shot from an acute angle at the near post; 1-0.PSV had already earned two corners and everybody in the stadium realized this was a dream start. AC Milan responded immediately. Pirlo fired a free kick just over the bar and Clarence Seedorf unleashed a dangerous long-range effort. The Italians earned four corners in a three minutes’ spell and threatened to level all the time. But PSV but almost doubled the advantage, when Alex brought out a wonderful one-handed save from Dida with a powerful header from a corner.Ibrahim Afellay and Ismail Aissati were impressive in midfield. The two youngsters were not troubled by stage fright and kept cool in spite of the presence of so many Milan stars. Cocu delivered a fine shot on the stroke of half time that went wide of the goal. Jaap Stam dismissedPSV soon created a good opportunity after the restart. Farfán rounded substitute Serginho, but his cross was deviated by Maldini. Dida pulled off a fine save from a Beasley effort, while at the other end Seedorf almost surprised Gomes with another long range shot that took a deflection. PSV brought on defender Michael Reiziger for midfielder Ibrahim Afellay half an hour from final time in order to defend their slender lead. Yet Dida had to be alert when Cocu and Farfán fired on target, but Gomes was kept busy all the time and denied Shevchenko immediately after the Ukrainian had come on as a substitute. AC Milan were down to ten men on 84 minutes, when Jaap Stam was cautioned for the second time. Beasley started another mazy run past Seedorf and Stam, who slid. The Dutch defender in Italian service pushed down the American winger and was subsequently dismissed for two bookable offences. Eric Addo left the bench to replace Farfán. PSV held on and when the final whistle had gone it was party time again in Eindhoven: PSV again enjoyed a victory at home over AC Milan.
