Guus Hiddink, Alex and Gomes have been nominated for the uefa.com team of the year 2005. Sixty players and managers have been nominated for 12 positions, including coach. NomineesHeurelho da Silva Gomes faces competition for the position of best goalkeeper from Olympique Lyon keeper Coupet, AC Milan goalie Dida, Juventus stopper Buffon and Chelsea FC goalkeeper Cech. Alex will face even tougher competition in the position of central defender. The Brazilian has to compete against Carvalho (Chelsea), Lucio (FC Bayern), Thuram (Juventus), Cris (Lyon), Puyol (Barcelona), Cannavaro (Juventus), Nesta (Milan), Carragher (Liverpool) and Terry (Chelsea). Apart from Hiddink, the following coaches have been nominated: Gazzaev (CSKA Moskou), Frank Rijkaard (Barcelona), José Mourinho (Chelsea) and Rafael Benítez (Liverpool). Ji-Sung ParkJi-Sung Park is one of the nominees for the position of left midfielder. Park was one of the players of the PSV squad in the first part of 2005. The South Korean made a move to Manchester United during the summer transfer window. Voting on the UEFA website, www.uefa.com, continues until 13 January 2006, so you have plenty of time to vote on the PSV players and coach!
